Historic Latta Plantation: A Plantation Christmas

Historic Latta Plantation is a circa 1800 cotton plantation and living history farm, located within Latta Plantation Nature Preserve.

Tours of the Latta home are guided, and tours of the grounds are self-guided.

November 26-27, 2010 (10am-4pm) Plantation Christmas

Begin the Christmas season by stepping back into an 1860s Christmas.  The plantation will be decorated for a time period Christmas. Visitors will learn about 1800s Christmas traditions, meet a Victorian St. Nick in the      plantation house, see open-hearth cooking in the kitchen, and a slave Christmas in the cabin.                       Free with regular site admission.

December 4, 2010 (6-9pm) A Candlelight Christmas

Step into an 1820s Christmas at Latta as you tour the plantation by candlelight.  Visitors can visit the animals in the carriage barn, see dancing in the house, meet Mr. and Mrs. Latta, enjoy the excitement of children before bedtime, see a Christmas meal being prepared in the kitchen, a slave family celebrating in the cabin, and more!  Admission is $7 per person, ages 5 and under free.

December 8, 2010 (12-4pm) A Homeschool Christmas

A 19th century Christmas celebration set aside for homeschool and other families.  Visitors can tour the plantation house to learn about 1800s Christmas customs, see cooking in the kitchen, a slave Christmas in the   cabin, make crafts, and meet St. Nick!  Admission is $5 per person, ages 4 and under free.                         No RSVP required!

Daily Christmas Tours in December!

See the plantation decorated for a 19th century North Carolina Christmas. House tours will talk about period Christmas traditions and Christmas on the plantation.

There will be several areas set up around the plantation for family Christmas photos.

After touring the plantation, visitors can warm up in the Visitor Center and make a Christmas craft.

Tours run daily December 1st – December 22nd.
Tour times: Tues-Fri (2pm, 3pm, 4pm)
Sat (11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm)
Sun (2pm, 3pm, 4pm)
Tours are included with regular site admission!

    We will be in NC AFTER Christmas in the Wilmington area. Is there anything we can see that is Christmasy. Is the Latta Plantation closed Dec 27-30? And where is this plantation? Would love to take our 13 year old triplets to see something! Thanks for a reply if possible! Diane Crane
